Master of the ancient Chinese art of healing New York Post, March 18, 1996 by Neil Graves

A lawyer strung out on cocaine arrived at the door of the Chi Gong Rejuvenation and Health Restoration Center [...] desperate to kick his habit. He didn't dare give his name, and to this day the people at the center don't know what it is. But he's drug-free now.

"I got a phone call from a woman who said she wanted to thank me," said the business manager. "I said: 'Do I know you?' She said she was the lawyer's wife." The lawyer ignored the $1,500 fee - too low, he insisted - and doubled it.

The pain-free, non-withdrawal treatment consists of herbal medicine, acupuncture - and Chi Gong. "That means using your mind to control the energy in your body," said Wang of the 5,000 year-old form of martial arts.

Addicts can be drug-free in just a few days, said Wang. He can detoxify heroin addicts in 10 days, liberate cocaine abusers in seven and dispatch with the nasty marijuana habit in three, he said.

Wang, 51, is Chi Gong master. He said opium addiction is a major menace in his native northeast China, a dumping ground for drugs from nearby North Korea.

Wang, who came here 15 months ago, said America permits too much freedom; addicts in China have no choice and are forcibly placed in rehab centers, he said.

[...] Wang can deal with whatever ails you - from ulcers, back pains and stiff necks to the nausea that chemotherapy patients suffer.

Most illnesses are a result of stress, Wang explained. By practicing Chi Gong, one learns how to relax and control the energy within them. That's how the healing process begins, Wang said.

At one point, when Wang was treating a patient with lower-back pain, the master stood a foot behind the patient and swayed him like a yo-yo, pulling him back and forth with Chi.

The patient, who was the recipient of Wang's positive energy, said he felt immeasurably better after the 10-minute treatment. By working with the master, a client's lower-back pain can be alleviated in four sessions over two weeks, Wang said, for a relatively low fee.

Wang was university professor in herbal medicine in China, as well as Chi Gong master. Wang learned the trade on his father's knee, starting at the age of 5. "It's been in the family] as long as I can remember," he said. "Five generations. Maybe more."
